About Us

The West London Teaching School Alliance (WLTSA) is coordinated through Sacred Heart High School in Hammersmith, which is designated as a National Teaching School.  We are a large alliance of over 60 schools including nurseries, primaries, special needs, secondaries, faith and non-faith, maintained schools, independent schools and free schools.  We have formal partnership arrangements with three universities.

Most of our schools are in Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea, but we also have schools in Westminster, Richmond, Ealing, Hounslow, Hillingdon and Brent.

Initial Teacher Training Tab

Part of our role is to manage the process of recruiting trainee teachers for our 60 schools on PGCE & QTS programmes run in partnership with Mary’s University, Roehampton University and UCL.  You will find lots more information including our vacancy list identifying specific schools (and detailed course information documents) by clicking the initial teacher training tab and then just beneath that, choosing primary or secondary or special needs.

We run fortnightly information plus Q&A sessions; these are currently online and you can find the dates and further details here:

Information plus Q&A sessions

Any queries regarding WLTSA teacher training should be sent to the Teaching School Office at Sacred Heart (Alex Dijkhuis for secondary and Pippa Currey for Primary, see contact details below).

Internships Tab

You will find information here about our paid internships for 4 weeks each year in June, for penultimate year undergraduates considering later becoming a maths or physics teacher.

Professional Development Tab

You will find information here about the range of continuing professional development opportunities that we offer for qualified teachers.  This includes support for newly qualified teachers (NQTs) and we also act as an Appropriate Body for NQT ratification.  Information regarding our Good Practice Subject Networks is included in this tab.

School to School Support Tab

School improvement is a priority for everyone and we firmly believe that all schools should be givers and receivers of support.  WLTSA aims to facilitate collaboration and the sharing of good practice amongst us all, including access to Maths hub support programmes and other opportunities.
